2007 UNA-USA Biennial Convention Report
| From UNA-MD President Bud Hankins' report: "A number of members of the Maryland Chapter of the United Nations Association were able to attend the four day national convention in New York City in early March of this year. Held at the world famous (Theodore) Roosevelt Hotel, the biennial convention offered equal opportunities to listen to progress reports delivered by persons active within the United Nations organization, participate in panel discussions about topics of concern to the United States and the UN, and to |
 |
adopt a series of resolutions calculated to encourage public support for strong US leadership in the United Nations. At least fourteen members from UNA-MD were in attendance for UNA Members' Day, including five high school students who were the guests of UNA-MD because of their superior performance at the Model UN Conference held at Hood College earlier in the year."
Also of great importance are the substantive resolutions passed by UNA-USA at the convention. These include a variety of policy stances on issues such as UN reform, Iraq, and the Millenium Development Goals. The resolutions are intended for use in advocacy activities. You can read more about the various speakers, activities, and resolutions that were part of the Biennial Convention on our web site at http://www.unamd.org/content/view/63/47/.

UNA-MD Membership Survey
In 2007, the leadership of UNA-MD hopes to more actively engage our growing membership so that we can expand our advocacy and educational programs. You may already have been contacted by phone by one of our Board members or other volunteers, in a project that is being led by Lane Berk. If you have not heard from someone, or have additional feedback you would like to share with the organization, we are providing an opportunity to do so with an online survey. The objective is to make sure we understand all of the goals, interests, and skills of our members and that our events and communications are addressing them. It is very important that we can provide opportunities to participate and volunteer for all of members.
Your participation in this survey will help the leadership of UNA-MD to better understand the goals, interests, and talents of our members. Your responses are completely anonymous. If you wish to follow-up with the Board, please send an email to info@unamd.org. We promise a quick response and that we will work to get you involved with the organization! To participate in the survey, visit our web site at http://www.unamd.org/component/option,com_philaform/Itemid,58/form_id,1/ or click on the Membership Survey link in the left side panel on any page of the site.
