Join the HERO Team at the 2007 NYC AIDS Walk!

May 8 - UNA-USA Student Alliance Call to Action

Looking for a way to get some exercise, enjoy the sun and support AIDS orphans and vulnerable children in Africa? If so, we'd like to invite you to join the United Nations Association of the USA's HERO Campaign for this year's NYC AIDS Walk on Sunday, May 20th!

We've registered HERO as a charity partner in this event so funds we raise as UNA-USA members will be used to directly benefit HERO's work in Africa. This is a fun and exciting way to raise funds for HERO and highlight the work of UNA-USA to the public.

It's simple- all you have to do is CLICK HERE and register to walk as part of the HERO Team. Once you’re registered let the fundraising begin. If you can’t walk with us, then CLICK HERE to join the team by making a donation. Be sure to email all your friends and family for support. Encourage as many people as you like to join the team - the more the merrier!

Tell Congress: Peace is cheaper than war

May 2 - UNA-USA Student Alliance Call to Action

We’d like to let you know about a new online, grassroots campaign in support of UN peacekeeping called the Price of Peace (www.PriceOfPeace.org).

The United States is failing to pay its fair share of UN peacekeeping.  The President’s budget request this year shortchanges UN peacekeeping by $500 million.  Considering the U.S. has already accumulated $500 million in prior unpaid bills to UN peacekeeping alone, the United States could owe more than $1 billion to the United Nations by the end of 2007!

Congress must now address this shortfall. And it is up to you to remind them that the price of UN peacekeeping is far less than the tragic human and financial costs of war and insist we keep our promise to fully fund the UN peacekeeping missions for which we’re voting.  You can act now to help support UN peacekeeping:

  • Visit www.priceofpeace.org and sign the petition to Members of Congress!
  •
  • Spread the word!  Send an e-card to your family, friends, and colleagues to let them know about this important campaign.

The United States and the international community have called on the UN to maintain peace, foster reconciliation, promote democracy, and build long-term stability in 18 missions around the world – at a fraction of what it would cost the U.S. – while keeping American troops out  of harmss way.  Visit www.PriceOfPeace.org now and help us tell Congress that funding UN peacekeeping is a sound investment for peace and stability.
