As the nation’s largest grassroots foreign policy organization and the leading center of policy research on the UN and global issues, UNA-USA offers Americans the opportunity to connect with issues confronted by the UN?"from global health and human rights to the spread of democracy, equitable development and international justice. Through its work, UNA-USA educates Americans about the work of the United Nations, and encourages public support for strong US leadership in the United Nations. UNA-USA is a member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations.

The United Nations Association of the National Capital Area (UNANCA) and its members work with foreign policy makers, political decision makers, schools, colleges, and universities, and non-profit and other organizations in the National Capital Area to build knowledge, understanding, informed opinion, and new ideas, on the United Nations and its specialized agencies. UNA-NCA concerns and projects touch peace and security, conflict resolution and culture, nuclear non-proliferation, global health, sustainable development, and human rights.

Citizens for Global Solutions envisions a future in which nations work together to abolish war, protect our rights and freedoms, and solve the problems facing humanity that no nation can solve alone. This vision requires effective democratic global institutions that will apply the rule of law while respecting the diversity and autonomy of national and local communities.

CGS sponsors conference calls connecting 50+ partner chapters throughout the US from its Washington, DC headquarters. They take place from 1:00-2:00 pm on the second Saturday of every odd-numbered month. This is open for more groups to participate, hearing the expert on the issue of the day and engaging in nationwide discussion with the expert and other participants. CGS promotes action to improve UN related matters (lobbying Congressmen, letters to newspapers, etc.) Anyone interested in hosting and promoting such a partner group, contact David Cammack (410-552-9475) or Charles Frascati (410-663-5542).  You may also connect to the conferences directly by calling 1-800-391-2548 before 1:00pm and giving the operator code VA317855, then your name, city, state, and the number of people attending from your site.


UNESCO CENTER FOR PEACE

The mission of the Center for Peace, located in Frederick, MD, is to promote the understanding of UNESCO’s mission and ideals and translate them into programs that will help raise a new generation of peace activists. These activists place human dignity at the center of their activities and strive to make the culture of peace a commodity of everyday life thru education, science, culture and communication.


UMBC MODEL UNITED NATIONS (UMBC-MUN)

The Model United Nations Team is comprised of current undergraduate and graduate students at UMBC. As part of MUN, the team simulates committee work of the United Nations and associated international non-governmental organizations. Currently, the team participates in two competitions each school year. The Model United Nations Foundation is an alumni organization affiliated with the UMBC Alumni Association and formally recognized by the UMBC Model United Nations Team. The Foundation is committed to provide financial and leadership support to the Team. Together, the Team and Foundation work together to organize events such as Diplomat for a Day and the Mid-Atlantic Region Model United Nations.

Global Classrooms is an innovative educational program of UNA-USA that engages public middle school and high school students in an exploration of current world issues through interactive simulations and curricular materials. Global Classrooms cultivates literacty and leadership as students explore important topics such as peacekeeping, sustainable development and human rights.

The National Peace Corps Association strives for a world in peace, shaped by understanding and tolerance. The mission of the National Peace Corps Association is to lead the Peace Corps community and others to foster peace by working together in service, education and advocacy.

UNITED RELIGIOUS INITIATIVE (URI)

United Religions Initiative (URI) was founded in 2000 by an extraordinary global community committed to promoting enduring, daily interfaith cooperation and to ending religiously motivated violence. Today the URI includes thousands of members in over 50 countries representing more that 100 religions, spiritual expressions, and indigenous traditions.

URI meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 7:30pm in Baltimore's Episcopal Cathedral and is coordinated by David Cammack (410-552-9475).


BALTIMORE COUNCIL ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS (BCFA)

The Baltimore Council on Foreign Affairs was founded in 1980 by broadly representative and distinguished community leaders and is dedicated to educating citizens about foreign affairs. By addressing lectures, seminars, discussions and studies to established and developing leadership, international professionals, the attentive citizenry, youth and not-yet attentive members of the public, the Council helps to develop effective citizenship, professional sophistication, and a more international milieu.
